‘The Queen Likes Them’: Meghan Markle Helps American Airlines Flight Attendant Shut Down Captain’s Insult
An American Airlines flight attendant shares her charming interaction with Meghan Markle on what seems to me was probably a New York – Los Angeles flight. The crewmember is New York-based, Meghan Markle has reportedly made several recent trips to New York, and Markle is based in Montecito (Southern California).
The cabin crew left the Duchess of Sussex a handwritten note, “It’s a pleasure serving you! Love you real bad” and signed it “AA girlies.” Markle wrote a note back,
Dear AA girlies, thank you for the love, hospitality, and handwritten note—you know me well. All love right back to you. As ever, Meghan.
Markle’s lifestyle brand is “As Ever.” Flight attendant Nina Vida who was onboard described Markle as “beautiful,” “sweet,” and particularly complimentary. The former Suits actress praised Vida’s manicure—which an American Airlines captain had derided as “intense.” Vida offered, “Sir, it doesn’t matter what you think. The queen says she likes them.”

Vida also praised Meghan’s cursive handwriting, characterizing it as “giving rich, giving expensive, giving princess.” (Before turning to acting, Meghan Markle was apparently a professional calligraphy instructor, which I did not know was a thing.)
Markle’s husband Prince Harry is known to fly American Airlines, even eschewing British Airways for the privilege.
His grandfather Prince Philip once said, “If you travel as much as we do, you appreciate the improvements in aircraft design of less noise and more comfort, provided you don’t travel in something called economy class, which sounds ghastly.” Harry and Meghan have done this, however.
