Just days after successfully defending the NXT women’s championship against Jordynne Grace at Battleground in Tampa, Florida, Stephanie Vaquer was booked to headline this week’s episode of NXT television against Jacy Jayne of Fatal Influence. This after Jayne slapped her hard across the face backstage to set things up.
They teased early on like Fallon Henley may turn on her stablemate but when the time came, she was right there to give a big assist while the referee was being distracted. That opened the door for Jayne, who hit the rolling elbow to win the title and shock everyone in the building:
Listen to that reaction from the crowd. Look at the shock on Mike Rome’s face before he announced Jayne as the victor and the new NXT women’s champion.
Absolutely no one saw this coming.
But, no different than Ricky Saints earlier in the evening, this will quite obviously lead to speculation that a move up the card is in order. Or, perhaps in this case, a move to the main roster.
