Drew McIntyre has done some of the best work of his career over the past couple years, including delivering some of the best matches he’s ever had. Unfortunately, it has come at quite the cost, including an extensive list of injuries he hasn’t ever been able to fully recover from.
Now, he’s going to get the chance to finally heal up.
That’s the word coming out of Saturday Night’s Main Event in Tampa, at least. Indeed, PW Insider is reporting that Damian Priest hitting the Con-Chair-To on McIntyre to finish out their steel cage match at the NBC/Peacock special was done as a television write off for McIntyre.
He’s expected to take “an extended period off” from WWE television. He’s been working hurt for a long time now, they say, something the man himself confirmed in a recent interview when he told the Orlando Sentinel he can’t even turn his head all the way to the left.
If anyone has earned the time off to rest up, it’s McIntyre. Let’s hope he isn’t away for too long.
