Several celebrities have been spotted on the protest marches across the US, including Susan Sarandon and Mark Ruffalo, who marched in opposition to Donald Trump’s presidency on the day of the military parade
Crowds have turned out in force for the “No Kings” protests across the United States against Donald Trump and many famous faces.
With protest demonstrations taking place in key locations, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York City, the “No Kings” rallies are protesting the parade, which organizers call a waste of tax dollars.
The parade is set to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the US Army and coincides with Trump’s 79th birthday. It has triggered backlash across the US and inspired action, including from some Hollywood stars such as award-winning actress Susan Sarandon, Marvel actor Mark Ruffalo, and talk show comedian Jimmy Kimmel. Others have spotted singer Gracie Abrams and Scandal actress Kerry Washington have shared their support too.

The stars have made themselves known alongside thousands of other protestors, with Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo speaking with MSNBC in New York City. When asked why people were out protesting in the rain, “to send a message”, he replied: “Because we see our democracy is in real trouble.”
He expanded: “We see a president who has made himself a king and dictator, and we don’t seen an opposition that’s powerful enough to stand up against the trampling of our rights and the trampling of the Constitution that’s happening every single day with executive orders, with the refusal to obey court orders, kidnapping of immigrants, people who are here legally, people who their children are being taken from them.
“We’re disgusted and we’re scared, and we know that the only way that — to fight this now is for the people, is to come together.”
Jimmy Kimmel, who has been vocal in his criticism of Donald Trump previously, attended a protest in San Francisco alongside his parents and also opened up about why he chose to protest. Writing on Instagram he told fans: “A huge, inspiring and yes — peaceful — turnout in the South Bay.
“I met many people who love this country and still believe it to be a force for good. I am grateful to see so many Americans take action to stand up for our friends and neighbors, most of all, my parents.
“I know how fortunate I am to have been born into a family that taught me to care about others, and that the most important words ever spoken are ‘Love one another.’ It really is as simple as that.”
Singer and songwriter Gracie Abrams also used social media to share her views. She shared two pictures of a crowd alongside the words, “Free speech is not an insurrection” and “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor,” the latter of which is a quote from Desmond Tutu.
Several other actors and actresses shared their support for the protests, including Academy Award winner Glenn Close, who posted videos to her Instagram. A Simple Favor actress Anna Kendrick, Thor actress Tessa Thompson, and Evanescence singer Amy Lee also shared videos and images from the protests.
