Singer Mika Singh shared several amusing and insightful stories about Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, revealing that only a few people truly understand the best way to approach him—and he considers himself one of them.
According to Mika, Salman should be avoided at certain times of the day because he tends to be unresponsive. He explained that the actor becomes more approachable in the evening, especially if music is part of the conversation. During an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Mika recounted a funny incident involving Salman ignoring music duo Meet Bros at the *Race 3* premiere, despite having spent time with them just hours earlier. Mika then revealed his insider knowledge.
“Salman Bhai is one person during the day and another at night,” Mika said. “He’s very warm with me, especially after a couple of drinks—he treats me like an equal. But no matter how close you think you are, you should never forget who he is. People often make the mistake of letting success get to their heads too early.”
Mika admitted he too made a misstep during his first encounter with Salman. “I acted like a fool. I should’ve shown him respect and asked if I could sing for him. He was on set for *Jaanam Samjha Karo*, and even had tea with us. But I didn’t have the presence of mind to get his contact. When I sang for him, I gave a full-on performance. He probably thought I looked ridiculous.”
Mika went on to tell the story of how Meet Bros were brushed off by Salman at the Race 3 premiere. “They had dinner—biryani—with him the night before and assumed they were now close friends. But they didn’t know what I knew. Salman is not approachable during the day, especially between 2 pm and 6 pm. I told them—wait until the evening, ideally with a song in hand. He doesn’t need alcohol to relax, he just needs time to get into the right mood. During the day, he’s often in his own world.”
Mika also shared that Salman has a habit of calling friends in the middle of the night—and expects them to answer. Once, while Mika was in Bali, Salman called him at around 4 am to sing “Hangover” over the phone. “He sang it well,” Mika said. “Then he started singing ‘Jumme Ki Raat’. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that the song was originally meant for me. Of course, no one’s going to tell Salman Khan he can’t sing a song. So I just messaged Bhushan Kumar and Sajid Nadiadwala to let them know I was aware of what was going on.”
