Lorrie Morgan says her husband has died: ‘I will love and miss you forever’

Lorrie Morgan stepped away from touring back in April to be by her husband’s side as he battled cancer.

And on Sunday she shared the heartbreaking news that his fight is done.

“Randy has been my partner, my champion and my rock for 17 years,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the two together. “Our big, wonderful family and I are devastated at the loss of this truly kind and incredible man. I was blessed by his love. Ran-ran, I will love and miss you forever.”

White, 72, was diagnosed with mouth cancer in April of 2024.

Morgan’s son, Jesse Keith Whitley, also shared his thoughts on White’s death.

“As I sit here in the room with hospice, I don’t know really what to think or to say about this situation,” he wrote. “But, I can say that the recent years of my life all the way back to when I was 22-23 years old this great man has been here and loved my mom, and also me & my sister as we were his own. He showed me love and showed me a relationship with Jesus even though I grew up Catholic, I kinda distanced myself a little from it. He has been the best grandfather for my kids they could ever asked for. Has come and picked me up late night when it wasn’t safe to drive and was never mad … not even once (this happened multiple times lol).

“Even when I called from a jail cell he laughed and me and said well I’ll be there in a little bit (boy mom was pissed).” He continued. “He has shown unconditional love to my mother and been the most gentle soul to ever grace this entire family. As we say our goodbyes, I reminisce of all the good times we have had & the battles he has helped overcome. I can’t tell you the amount of love that has poured in from fans, family and friends. We will miss you always and forever and our hearts are shattered in losing you. But you have fought one helluva fight RanMan! Rest easy say hello to everyone and love on Weezy. I love you.”

Morgan was touring with Alabama when she stepped away. Pam Tillis replaced her.

Morgan’s manager, Tony Conway, released a statement at the time that said that White “had been readmitted to a hospital in Middle Tennessee.”

Morgan, who is a member of the Grand Ole Opry, has had more than 40 songs land on the Billboard Hot Country Charts. Three of those — “Five Minutes,” “What Part of No,” and “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength,” made it to number-one on the charts.

White was Morgan’s sixth husband. Among her previous marriages, country music star Keith Whitley died in 1989. She was also married to country music star Sammy Kershaw from 2001-to-2007.
