Over a year after parting ways with Bharat Takhtani, Esha Deol has spoken about how their relationship has evolved since the split. She shared that they have established a new way of co-parenting and clarified that she doesn’t identify herself as a “single mom.”
Esha Opens Up About Life After Separation
In a candid conversation on the YouTube channel Mamaraazzi, Esha discussed her life post-separation. When asked about being a single mother to her two daughters, she expressed that she avoids using that label.
“I don’t consider myself a single mother because I don’t act like one, nor do I let others treat me that way,” she explained. “Sometimes in life, relationships change, and when things don’t work out as they once did, especially when children are involved, both partners must act maturely and adapt to a new dynamic. That’s what Bharat and I have done—for the sake of our children, we maintain unity in a different form.”
Esha also talked about how she juggles her professional commitments and motherhood. She stressed the value of time management in avoiding guilt and ensuring a balanced life.
“If my schedule is packed with a 10 or 12-hour shoot, I make sure to spend at least four dedicated hours with my daughters. On my days off, I devote the entire day to them. I do what makes them happy so they feel truly valued,” she said. “I’ve cut down on social outings and meeting friends—this is how I maintain balance.”
Background on Esha Deol’s Separation
Esha, daughter of film legends Dharmendra and Hema Malini, married businessman Bharat Takhtani in 2012. The couple has two daughters: Radhya (born in 2017) and Miraya (born in 2019).
After more than a decade of marriage, the couple announced their separation in February last year through a joint statement. They said the decision was mutual and amicable, adding that the well-being of their children remains their top priority. They also requested privacy during this transition.
