As the film prepares for its production to begin in the summer, the Once Upon a Time In Hollywood follow-up, directed by David Fincher, adds Scott Caan and Elizabeth Debicki to its cast. Brad Pitt is set to star in the film, returning to his role as stuntman Cliff Booth from Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film, which earned Pitt a Best Supporting Actor Oscar at the 92nd Academy Awards.
Not much is known about this follow-up except that it’ll center around Pitt’s Cliff Booth, with everything else about the film shrouded in secrecy. One possibility is that this new film could be inspired by Tarantino’s novelization of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which featured extended flashbacks to Cliff Booth’s past and an extended epilogue, both of which don’t appear in the original movie. However, whether any material from Tarantino’s novelization will be used for this follow-up is currently unknown.
Quentin Tarantino will write the film. Originally, Tarantino intended to direct his own script, but he put it aside until Brad Pitt convinced him to let David Fincher direct instead.
It is currently unknown who Caan and Debicki are playing in the film. For Debicki, sources speculate that she’ll play one of two key female roles: a bar and mud wrestling establishment owner or a trophy wife. For Caan, there are currently no speculations on who he’ll be playing in the film.
This currently untitled Once Upon a Time In Hollywood follow-up is set to begin production in July in California.
