Olivia Newton-John Dead at 73

Olivia Newton-John, the Australian singer whose mesmerizing voice and beauty made her one of the biggest pop stars of the ’70s. 

The singer-actor died at age 73 at her ranch in Southern California. Although a cause of death wasn’t revealed, Newton-John had fought breast cancer for 30 years.

Newton-John recorded her first single in England in 1966 and scored a few international hits, but she remained largely unknown to US audiences until 1973, when “Let Me Be There” became a top-10 hit.

His co star in one of her hit song, John Travolta also shared a message from his social media handle stating, ” Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!,”. 

Actress/singer Olivia Newton-John was born on September 26, 1948, in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. She lived there until she was five years old, and her family relocated to Australia when her father was offered a job as the dean of a college in Melbourne. When she was a teen she returned to live in England with her mother, after winning a singing talent contest. She had many hit singles and appeared on TV series with Cliff Richard as well as in the film Tomorrow (1970). 

Her Well-known songs include “If Not for You”, “If You Love Me, Let Me Know”, “Let Me Be There”, “I Honestly Love You”, “Heart Attack”, “Have You Never Been Mellow”, “Summer Nights”, “You’re The One That I Want”, “Hopelessly Devoted to You”, “Magic”, “Xanadu”, “Physical” and “Twist of Fate”.
