Kadhwa Technique: Saree Hand-Woven Over 70 Days by Skilled Weavers of Nita Ambani.

Nita Ambani has consistently impressed with her saree choices, highlighting Indian craftsmanship in collaboration with Swadesh. At Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding festivities, she showcased yet another stunning look in a heavily embroidered saree by Manish Malhotra.

The saree, draped in traditional Gujarati style, is made of tissue Banarasi fabric with intricate detailing. It features a real zari border and a handwoven purple brocade blouse, complemented by gold and silver zari embroidery across the pallu.

Designed using the Kadhwa technique, the saree involved meticulous hand-weaving of each motif individually. It took 70 days to complete with the expertise of two skilled weavers.

The Kadhwa technique is renowned for its intricate craftsmanship, where motifs are woven directly into the fabric without leaving loose threads at the back. This method allows for a variety of motifs in different sizes, colors, and textures on the same saree, creating a robust pattern that stands out.

Despite being time-consuming, the Kadhwa technique ensures durability and enhances the overall aesthetic of the fabric, making it a preferred choice for intricate Banarasi handloom sarees.
