How to deal with failure : Ayushmann Khurrana.

Ayushmann Khurrana‘s recent film, Dream Girl 2, marked a significant milestone in his career, adding to a string of successful movies. Despite experiencing failures following his debut with Vicky Donor, Ayushmann highlighted in a recent interview with Forbes India the pivotal role of his 2015 film Dum Laga Ke Haisha. He attributed this movie to kickstarting a streak of eight consecutive hits.

Reflecting on handling setbacks, Ayushmann emphasized, “I believe true maturity comes from learning to navigate failures. Success doesn’t teach you much, but failures are your companions, philosophers, and guides. If you haven’t faced failures early on, it becomes challenging as you grow older. That’s life.”

He elaborated on his journey post-Vicky Donor, mentioning, “After my debut, I encountered three consecutive unsuccessful films due to the type of scripts I was receiving. It wasn’t until Dum Laga Ke Haisha that things turned around. Subsequently, I enjoyed a series of eight back-to-back blockbusters. It’s not just about the actor; it’s about the collaborations with scriptwriters and the choices made—it’s a collective effort.”

Ayushmann Khurrana gained acclaim with Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor in 2012 but faced box office disappointments with subsequent films like Nautanki Saala, Bewakoofiyaan, and Hawaizaada. However, his fortunes changed with Dum Laga Ke Haisha directed by Sharat Katariya. The film portrays Ayushmann as a disillusioned school dropout reluctantly married to an educated overweight woman. Initially skeptical, his character eventually falls in love with her through their shared experiences, culminating in a successful box office run, grossing Rs 113 crore against a budget of Rs 14 crore.
